Enhancing Transition to Postsecondary Education and Employment for Youth with Disabilities through Culturally Relevant Supports, Services, and Education

When: March 2nd and 3rd, 2005
Where: Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, Honolulu, Hawai‘i
Cost: The Institute is free to participants. Registration is required.

This CBI will critically explore the successful preparation for and transition to postsecondary education and employment for youth with disabilities in the context of cultural and linguistic diversity. Speakers will offer suggestions for practices that create or strengthen culturally relevant support services, educational environments, assessment tools, and community/family partnerships. Presentations, workshops, and roundtable discussions will cover:

Secondary and post-secondary educators, disability support services personnel, students with disabilities, parents, community leaders, transition specialists, rehabilitation counselors, researchers, and other persons interested in educational and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Agenda

Includes pre-Institute readings and online discussion, presentations by national and regional experts and leaders in the field, interactive workshops and round-table discussions, and post-Institute follow-up.
