Purpose: The purpose of the National Summit is to share synthesis of findings and make recommendations for new policy, priorities, and practice concerning the preparation for and support of youth with disabilities in postsecondary education. The Summit will include data and information from a National Network of individuals, programs, and researcher centers, with implications for disability focused federal policy, priorities, and practice within the field.

Focus of the National Summit:

• What Preparation is required in secondary school for youth with disabilities to successfully access and perform in postsecondary education and employment settings?
• What are the discrepancies in the provision of educational and related supports across secondary school and post-school environments and the significant obstacles created for youth with disabilities seeking to transition across these environments?
• What are the self-advocacy skills and various technologies that support youth with disabilities to be successful in post-school environments?
• What are the implications for federal policy reauthorization (IDEA, Rehabilitation Act, others), federal priority setting for research & demonstration initiatives, and practice in secondary education, postsecondary education, and employment settings?
